Library Cards

What you can do with your library card?
Your library card allows you to check out books, movies, magazines and audiobooks, all for free in both print and digital formats. But that’s not all. You can also check out passes to state parks and other attractions, Launchpads, Chromebooks, tablets and even a telescope. 

Get a Library Card
PINES Library Cards are free to all residents of Georgia. If you attend school, own property or work in Georgia, you are eligible for a free PINES card. Bring a government issued id showing your name and current address to get a card.

Parents or guardians of children under the age of 18 must accompany their child when applying for a Library Card.  The parent must sign their child's application and present proper identification.

If your library card is lost or stolen, report it immediately to the library. There is no charge for a replacement card.

PINES eCard
The eCard provides access to Hoopla, Libby, and Axis 360 as well as GALILEO.  Bring in your government issued id to upgrade the card to a full library card that allows you to check out books and other materials.

Check out Items
A PINES Library Card or identification card is required for all transactions including check out of items, renewal, and to place a hold (reserve) on an item. A patron must present a card in good standing to borrow materials. Books and movies check out for 2 weeks with 2 possible renewals.

Overdue Items
MJPL is now fine free so items owned by MJPL will not incur late fees. Late items borrowed from other PINES libraries may accrue overdue fines at $.20 per day per item. DVDs are limited to  checking out 15 at a time. The first reminder for overdue materials will occur 7 days past the due date. The second reminder will occur 14 days past the due date. A mailed bill for replacing the overdue materials will occur 30 days past the due date.

Delinquent Accounts
Library materials will not be checked out or renewed to any cardholders with more than 10 overdue books or those who have over $10 in fees.

Use the Pines app to renew items, place items on hold, pay overdue fines and search the catalog.
