Your library card allows you to check out books, movies, and audiobooks, all for free. But that's not all. You can also check out free passes to state parks and other attractions, access online tutorials for standardized tests like the SAT, and download ebooks and audiobooks for your portable devices.
PINES (Public Information Network for Electronic Services) is the public lending and automation network for more than 275 libraries and affiliated service outlets in almost 140 counties. PINES creates a statewide “borderless library” that provides equal access to information for all Georgians.
PINES Library Cards are free to all residents of Georgia. Persons who are enrolled in school, own property or are employed in Georgia are eligible for a free PINES card. Bring identification showing your current address to Worth County Library to get a card. Acceptable forms of identification are defined in our Circulation Policy.
Now patrons may fill out their library application form online. To complete the registration process, the patrons will need to come into a PINES library to show proof of ID so that the library staff can complete the form and issue the library card.
Children under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian register them for a Library Card. Parents must also present proper identification and sign the application, assuming all legal responsibility for any fines, lost or damaged materials charged on the minor’s card.
Report a lost or stolen card immediately to the library to avoid responsibility for use. There is a $2 charge for a replacement card.
A PINES Library Card is required for ALL transactions including check out of items, renewal, and to place a hold (reserve) on an item that is either checked out of the library or is located at another PINES member library. A patron must present a card in good standing to borrow materials. A patron's card will be blocked to additional borrowing if the patron has 10 or more overdue items or owes $10 or more in unpaid fines and/or fees.
Books, audios, and CD's check out for 2 weeks with 2 possible renewals. Overdue fines are $.20 per day per book. DVDs check out for one week with no renewals. Overdue fines are $.50 per day per movie.
You can renew items in person, by telephone or over the web. To renew items in person, bring your library card and item into the Library. To renew over the telephone call us at 229-776-2096 and have your library card number and know what items you want to renew. To renew over the web go to the PINES catalog at http://gapines.org. You will need to login using your library card number and PIN. If you do not have your PIN, please ask for it the next time you are at the Library. PINs can only be given out in person after identity verification.
The first time you login to the library catalog you must change your PIN to a secure password. You will then have the ability to change your username, your password, and contact information.
Georgians with a PINES library card have access to materials beyond what is available on their local shelves, and enjoy the benefits of a shared collection of 9.6 million books that can be delivered to their local home library free of charge. A “hold” is reserving an item that is checked out or available at another PINES library.
When you opened your PINES account, you selected a Home Library. This is where your hold books will be sent and it can be changed anytime. If Worth County is your Home Library, then books, audiobooks, and movies can be placed on Hold. You may borrow books from other PINES libraries and they must have been at that library for at least six months. When the item you placed a Hold on becomes available for you to take home, you will be notified by email or telephone. The choice is yours.
1. On a computer at home:
2. Holds may be placed using the inside PINES Catalog computers or the general use computers. Just follow the directions above.
3. You may telephone the library at 229-776-2906 and we will be glad to place the hold for you.
Members of the Worth County Library System can download E-Books & Audiobooks through Georgia Download Destination. Enter your library card number and enter your PIN. Now you can search for titles and authors.
